NIC Instruments Ltd
Our products fulfil core requirements when dealing with hazardous device disposal, Explosive ordnance disposal (EOD), unexploded ordnance (UXO) or improvised explosive device disposal (IEDD).
We also supply equipment to Non Governmental Organisations (NGO) to assist in demining, which has in recent years become an important task for clearing anti-personnel mines and unmarked minefields.
EOD
NIC manufacture a range of Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) equipment for searching and dealing with unexploded ordnance (UXO).
No unexploded ordnance can be dealt with until first located. NIC manufacture an array of search equipment designed to help search teams quickly locate suspect devices. These range from the large under vehicle mirror and telescopic search arms to the full ‘Hawk’ search kit, which offers a complete search solution, mounted in a back pack. NIC search equipment is designed to be used easily by security personnel, but attention is also given to search teams who may be in full bomb suits, where movement is extremely limited.
Once a suspect device has been identified NIC’s role continues in offering solutions to deal with it.
Hook and line offers not only an access capability, but also solutions if the device must be moved. The NIC hook and line system has a range of instruments designed to open or move doors, windows and a range of other obstacles in the path of the device. The Hook and Line system may then also be utilised to move the device if required. Once again, NIC’s emphasis on design ensures that instruments may be used by personnel in full bomb suits where movement is limited.
In many areas, personnel need to have a full EOD capability, but do not have the resources to transport it, e.g. in post combat theatres. The NIC lightweight modular EOD response pack offers a complete EOD capability in a back pack system. This system offers an excellent solution to IEDD tasks as well, and can be tailored to suit customer’s specific tasks. The pack offers reconnaissance instruments, access, search and location, identification and diagnosis and render safe/neutralisation procedures. NIC is the only company to manufacture such a complete solution for the management of unexploded ordnance.
IEDD
As the terrorist threat becomes more pronounced with increased capability by
reactionary groups, so the need for dealing with the devices, or Improvised
Explosive Devices (IED) becomes more acute.
No IED can be dealt with, until first located. NIC manufacture an array of search
equipment designed to help search teams quickly locate suspect devices. These
range from the large under vehicle mirror and telescopic search arms to the
full ‘Hawk’ search kit, which offers a complete search solution,
mounted in a back pack. NIC search equipment is designed to be used easily by

DEMINING
Demining has become one of the most important tasks in recent years for groups involved in EOD. Awareness of anti-personnel mines, unexploded ordnance and unmarked minefields left after years of unrest in many countries, has greatly increased. Many humanitarian groups have taken on the task to clear these areas, prior to rehabilitation.
NIC manufacture a range of products that may be used to assist groups in their demining requirements. These range from hook and line systems to the NIC lightweight modular EOD backpack, which offers a full EOD capability, in a lightweight back pack system. For humanitarian and non governmental groups (NGO), the NIC lightweight modular back pack is available in bright orange. This clearly distinguishes operators as being non military, essential for many NGO.
