NABCO Announces New Generation of BioChem-ratedTM TCV Technology
NABCO, Inc. announced today that all of its Total Containment Vessels (TCVs) will now be BioChem-ratedTM at their maximum explosive charge. With this advance, NABCO TCVs now offer the highest gas-tight explosive containment on the market.
This new generation of BioChem-ratedTM technology significantly enhances the protection that EOD teams will receive. When using a BioChem-ratedTM TCV, EOD teams will be able to contain a suspect device with confidence that any biological or chemical agent present will also be effectively mitigated -- all the way to the TCV's maximum-rated charge, or up to 15 lbs. C4 (19.2 lbs. TNT) in the case of NABCO's largest TCV, the Model 64.
Earlier generations of NABCO TCVs were dual rated:
• a "maximum charge rating described their explosive containment capability, and
• a "gas-tight rating that described their ability to contain a chemical or biological hazard released by detonation of the device within the vessel.
Now, under the new BioChem-ratedTM system, NABCO TCVs will have a single rating that encompasses both capabilities -- a single maximum explosive charge rating at which both the explosion and any biological/chemical hazard released by it will be effectively contained. "When facing threats like improvised explosive devices, this new BioChem-ratedTM technology will give EOD teams great confidence they can effectively contain the hazard -- even if an unknown biological or chemical agent is present," adds Jay Markey, President of NABCO. "This can reduce the potential for injury to both EOD team members and the public."
The NABCO BioChem-ratedTM technology will be available in newly purchased NABCO TCVs and also as an upgrade, enabling organizations who have purchased a previous NABCO TCV model to benefit from the company's latest technology.
"NABCO has more customers by far than anyone else in the field," remarks Randy Markey, Chief Operating Officer. "And one reason is that with each new generation of our products, we've created effective upgrade paths for our customer base. This new BioChem-ratedTM technology is no exception."
