Saab receive order for second Sea Giraffe AMB for the US Navy Littoral Combat Ship program
Saab Microwave Systems has received an order for Sea GIRAFFE
AMB radar No 2 for the Littoral Combat Ship in USA. The Saab Sea GIRAFFE AMB with the stealth radome will be installed on the prototype ships built by General Dynamics.
The Sea GIRAFFE AMB (Agile Multiple Beam) belongs to the third and latest generation of GIRAFFE radar systems and has excellent capabilities to rapidly and reliably detect small fast moving targets in all altitudes and small surface targets in severe clutter typical for the naval environment. The Sea GIRAFFE AMB is a true 3-dimensional radar featuring fast update, accurate tracking and high elevation coverage, all at the same time. The inherent ECCM capabilities are comprehensive including the stealth radome that is part of the delivery.
The fact that the customer have decided to order the second Sea GIRAFFE once again confirms the Sea GIRAFFE´s very strong position in the world market today.
The family of GIRAFFE AMB has been developed to meet future defence needs,where information and command superiority will play increasingly vital roles. The Sea GIRAFFE AMB has previously been ordered by the Swedish Armed Forces and for delivery to the Polish Navy's ORKAN program and the United Arab Emirates Navy's BAYNUNHAH program.
