TSA Awards the Specialized Security Training Contract to Lockheed Martin.
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) today awarded a new contract to Lockheed-Martin Services, Inc. to be its specialized security training contractor. This new contract will provide flexibility in delivering a range of tailored security training services.
Lockheed-Martin Services, Inc. will provide specialized security training for TSA's passenger and baggage screeners. The contract also provides TSA the flexibility for Lockheed-Martin Services, Inc. to design and offer various types of specialized training for programs such as Federal Flight Deck Officers, Federal Air Marshals, and others, as needed. Some of the training may focus on subjects such as security enforcement and anti-terrorism. Specialized training may also be available to other agencies within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
"TSA must constantly update its training to meet new challenges," said Adm. James M. Loy, Transportation Security Administrator. "The scope of this contract is designed to be flexible to allow TSA and DHS to provide its employees with the specialized security training necessary to protect the American people from future terrorist attacks."
Under the terms of the competitively procured contract, Lockheed-Martin Services, Inc. will provide assistance to TSA in the design, development and implementation of specialized security training and will provide expert and qualified instructional trainers. In some cases, the contractors will arrange for the facilities needed and assist TSA in compiling training data. The contractor will be able to deliver services on a national and regional level, including to all fifty states, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa and the Northern Mariana Islands.
The initial contract and the first task order awarded for program management is valued at $8.9 million. The contract has an optional renewal for up to five years and provides flexibility to TSA and DHS to accomplish the goals as outlined in the Homeland Security Act.
