IXSEA has delivered a PHINS 6000 inertial navigation system to Seatronics, leaders in marine survey equipment rental
PHINS 6000 with DVL Ready option is a subsea inertial navigation system, providing subsea vehicles with position, true heading, attitude, speed and heave. Its high-accuracy inertial measurement unit is based on Fiber Optic Gyroscope (FOG) technology coupled with an embedded digital signal processor that runs an advanced Kalman filter.
"Already the owners of more than 50 OCTANS, IXSEA's gyrocompass and full motion sensor for use in the oil and gas offshore construction market, Seatronics has now invested in PHINS 6000 to extend its range, said Nick Goodwin, Sales Director, IXSEA Ltd. "This reflects the growing desire for additional positioning capability for ROVs and other subsea vehicles in the ever-deepening theatre of operation. Many end clients are now specifying the use of inertial navigation systems in the survey spread and PHINS 6000 allows Seatronics to compete in this market."
"We have a continuous investment program in the latest technologies available from the world's leading manufacturers and regard OCTANS as a world beating product offering high accuracy and long-term reliability in demanding offshore conditions," said David Currie, Managing Director, Seatronics Ltd. "We believe the PHINS product range will provide similar operational parameters and become an industry standard for subsea inertial navigation systems in the future."
