DuPontâ„¢ Nomex® expansion plans on track !
Science company DuPont has invested 100M USD in an expansion plan that will dramatically increase the capacity of Nomex® staple products in the Asturias plant. The project, which commenced in January 2007 and is on schedule to complete in the summer, will facilitate a 10% increase in the capacity of Nomex® in 2008 and a 30% increase in 2009.
The requirement for the expansion plan is indicative of the high demand for high performance heat-and-flame protective clothing made from DuPontâ„¢ Nomex® across a diverse range of applications and industries, such as military, emergency services, industrial and utilities.
Through continual scientific research and development, evaluation of long-term market trends and partnerships with other solution providers, DuPont strives to support the needs of the protective apparel industry and other key growth market areas. "The global demand for Nomex® protective solutions remains very strong," explains Diego Boeri, regional business manager DuPont Personal Protection EMEA "We are pleased to report that the expansion plan is on schedule, and we are confident that we will have full commercial availability in the third quarter".
The primary focus of DuPont is to apply its global technical expertise and innovation to help its customers develop outstanding protective clothing solutions. In addition to manufacturing world-class protective fibres like Nomex®, DuPont offers a wide range of technical support services to selected garment manufacturers, weavers, knitters and spinners, in the Nomex® Quality Partnership (NQP) Program..
DuPont has developed the NQP program so that together, DuPont and its partners can anticipate and respond to market developments with greater speed and intuition. The program ensures that through a partnership of design, development and unique testing procedures using facilities like the DuPontâ„¢ Thermo-Man®, Arc-Man® and new Molten MetalMan, garments bearing the NQP label often go beyond the performance parameters of relevant EN Standards to provide exceptional levels of heat-and-flame protection, durability, comfort and cost efficiency for end users in all industries. The shared vision of the partners is that through the NQP programme, the winners will be the men and women their products protect.
