Andhra Pradesh State Government Orders One AW139 Helicopter

AgustaWestland is pleased to announce that Andhra Pradesh State Government (India) has signed a contract for one AW139 medium twin turbine engine helicopter. This helicopter will be used to perform executive transport missions.

With approximately 20 commercial helicopters of various types ordered in India and half of them already delivered to their respective government and corporate customers, AgustaWestland has experienced a dramatic growth in the Indian market in recent years and this latest purchase made by this new customer increases the number of AW139s ordered by various operators in India to five. Andhra Pradesh adds to other Indian State Governments such as Jammu & Kashmir, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh which already operate AgustaWestland helicopters.

Thanks to their unequalled characteristics in terms of performance, safety and operational availability and serviceability, the AgustaWestland commercial product range is achieving more and more success in the Indian market where customers often operate in extreme conditions, from the heat and dust of Rajasthan to the extreme altitudes, cold and inclement weather found in Jammu and Kashmir.

AgustaWestland has also established a product support service in India to get closer to its customers so it can provide the best possible service. For this purpose the company has appointed Indian company OSS Air as an official AgustaWestland Service Centre to provide spares support and maintenance services for its range of commercial helicopters.

As the best selling helicopter in the medium twin class, the AW139's success in the world market place continues to grow and is used a number of applications including VIP/corporate transport, offshore transport, SAR/EMS, law enforcement, utility and other government tasks. Orders for more than 350 AW139 helicopters have been placed by over 100 customers in almost 40 countries so far.
