AMI Metals selected as top performer among GKN Aerospace's 1000+ global supplier base.
At a breakfast reception at Farnborough International on Wednesday 16th July '08, GKN Aerospace recognised the achievements of its top 40 suppliers from its global supplier base, gave four awards for particular achievement and presented AMI Metals with the award for 'Overall Supplier of the Year'.
Rob Soen, Senior Vice President Supply Chain commented: "Today GKN Aerospace's annual materials budget exceeds $1bn. AMI Metals continues to provide us with aluminium products in a flawless manner. They are one of our longest standing supplier partnerships and operate as an integral part of our team, delivering over 100,000 parts each year with total self sufficiency."
Other winners recognised by GKN Aerospace were:
BAZ Metals for delivery performance. This company began working with GKN Aerospace in spring 2006 and their excellent performance since has resulted in business with them growing from metal detail kits to include significant packages of work on the latest A400M and Boeing 767 winglet programmes.
Oldlands CNC for quality performance. This company supplies three GKN Aerospace sites working on programmes including the A380, A330/340, the Lynx and now the Future Lynx and A400M. They have consistently performed to short lead times and responded swiftly in an extremely dynamic environment, ensuring design changes are efficiently catalogued and controlled.
Weber Metals for innovation and cost. This company designs and supplies a number of unique titanium forgings and has effectively and enthusiastically adopted GKN Aerospace's lean philosophies to control cost and maintain tight inventory goals.
Soen concludes: "We aim to consolidate our supply chain and work closely with a team of partner/suppliers with us as we strive to constantly improve our performance and reduce costs to our customers. These supplier awards acknowledge the outstanding commitment and achievements of the best of these - Companies that we feel make a tangible difference to the world class products and services we offer."
