Sepura wins first contract in the Philippines
Sepura has won its first-ever contract in the Philippines to supply TETRA digital radios to the Manila-based Iglesia ni Cristo (Church of Christ) - an independent, Christian church that originated in the Philippines nearly 100 years ago.
The church campus with its huge Gothic spires is one of the most prominent landmarks in the Philippines. Huge crowds are attracted to its services and events, and the church hosts television broadcasts that are relayed throughout the Philippines, Asia-Pacific, Middle East, USA and Europe. The complex includes a six-story Central Office Building; a 7,000-seat Central Temple; a multi-purpose hall; and 30,000 capacity Central Pavilion.
Rohde and Schwarz, one of Sepura's global partners, secured the contract to replace the existing analogue radio system with a digital TETRA network, employing Sepura SRH3800 sGPSâ„¢ hand-held and SRG3500 Gateway radios operating in the 800 MHz frequency band.
Wilben Conti, of Rohde and Schwarz, said: "This first Sepura order in the Philippines could hardly have been at a more impressive location. The church wanted a system that would significantly help in the running of events and the ability to respond instantly to emergencies."
Sepura's radios provide clear, secure and reliable voice and data communications, with SDS (short data service) functionality allowing discrete communications during church services.
Sepura's radio Gateways ensure that communications can be maintained beyond the normal reach of the network and in areas of poor reception. Given the multitude of large buildings, this functionality is potentially vital for in-door radio coverage.
The hand-held radios incorporate Sepura's award winning sGPS technology that enables the communications control room to identify the precise location of each user, to assist in security and the management of large crowds.
Kevin Graham, Sepura's Regional Director for South and South East Asia, said: "The contract was secured thanks to Rohde and Schwarz's sales ability and knowledge of Sepura's products - and the quality and performance of Sepura's radios.2
