Fire service of St Petersburg chooses Sepura
The fire service in St Petersburg has followed the city's ambulance service by choosing Sepura TETRA radios for its mission critical communications.
This contract strengthens Sepura's position as market leader in Russia, where its radios are widely used by public safety users, as well as transport and utility organisations.
Kenneth Hubner, Sepura's Regional Director for North and Central Europe, said: "It is a first-class testament for our products that both Fire and Ambulance in one of Russia's and Europe's largest cities have chosen Sepura."
St Petersburg has a population of six million and is renowned as ‘The Venice of the North' with many architectural treasures which the fire service has to protect.
A TETRA service was needed to increase operational efficiency, by providing instant and reliable communication, to assist the rapid response and handling of emergencies. The Fire Service had witnessed Sepura radios in use in the city's ambulance service, and was impressed by their robustness, sound clarity and functionality.
Astracom, Sepura's distributor in this region of Russia, will be supplying Sepura SRH3800 sGPSâ„¢ Hand-held and SRM3500 Mobile and SRG3500 Gateway vehicle radios, operating on the RadioTel network. The radios will also allow multi-agency communications with the ambulance service and other TETRA users.
Anton Vladimirovich Dorozhenko, TETRA Projects Manager of Astracom, said: "The Sepura equipment and the TETRA service will significantly improve the performance of the fire service, so they can respond more quickly and efficiently in their effort to save lives and protect the city's historic buildings."
