Bulgarian Police Orders An AW109 Power
AgustaWestland, a Finmeccanica company, is pleased to announce that the Bulgarian Police has signed a contract for one AW109 Power light twin helicopter which will be delivered in 2010. This aircraft will be used for law enforcement and border patrol missions.
This contract marks the entrance of the AW109 Power in the Bulgarian helicopter market and adds to the large number of operator who have selected the AW109 Power for law enforcement, homeland security and public service duties worldwide.
The AW109 Power law enforcement can be equipped with an impressive range of state-of-the-art avionics and mission-dedicated equipment for all-weather operations. The Bulgarian Police's AW109 Power will feature a tailored radio communication system, NVG, video down link, search light, mission console and FLIR camera. The ability to change the interior configuration provides exceptional versatility to support the different law enforcement roles.
The 8-seat single/dual pilot IFR flight-certified AW109 Power is a highly versatile twin engine helicopter used for a wide range or commercial and government roles and offers the highest levels of performance with low operating costs. The law enforcement-configured AW109 Power has proven itself in service, meeting the stringent demands of police agencies worldwide in terms of performance, safety, reliability and mission effectiveness. With a maximum cruise speed of 154 kts (285 Km/h) and a range of 512 nm (948 km), the AW109 Power offers superior rapid reaction capabilities, surveillance area coverage and in-flight endurance.
The AW109 Power law enforcement is designed to perform a wide range of security duties to meet the changing demands of law enforcement: patrol, surveillance and tactical operations, state border control, counter terrorism, search and rescue, armed interdiction and other homeland security missions.
Of over 460 AW109 Powers ordered for both commercial and government purposes from almost 50 countries, over 60 units are dedicated to law enforcement and homeland security missions. Other roles the AW109 Power is widely used for include VIP/corporate transport, harbour pilot shuttle, maritime patrol, emergency medical services and advanced crew training.
