AgustaWestland Pilot Award 2009 Presented To Captain Trevor Wilson At The Australian International Airshow

AgustaWestland, a Finmeccanica company, is pleased to announce the presentation of the AgustaWestland Pilot Award 2009 to Captain Trevor Wilson at the Australian International Airshow. The award to Captain Trevor Wilson, delivered during an official ceremony held at AgustaWestland stand today, is recognition of his efforts for the establishment and development of the first AW139 medium twin helicopter in Australia, as Chief Pilot for Emergency Management Queensland (EMQ) for EMS-SAR operations. The first AW139 Australian Pilot and Certified Instructor in Australia, Captain Trevor Wilson has been instrumental not only in the successful management and training of his flight crews but has also supported the introduction of the AW139 for other operators in Australia.

His Organization, Emergency Management Queensland, based in Cairns, Brisbane and Townsville presently employs 3 AW139s and remains one of Australia's busiest emergency helicopter networks with in excess of 2500 hours annually. Presently Trevor is defining and managing the recurrent training for his flight crews, with the aid of the AW139 Full Flight Simulator. Trevor Wilson has also given valuable contribution in rescuing and saving human lives operating with Police and SAR in Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland for more than 20 years.

After just over four years since the start of deliveries to customers worldwide, the AW139 has found exceptional success on the market becoming the best selling medium twin turbine helicopter. It rapidly proved the helicopter of choice also for emergency medical service and search and rescue duties. The state-of-the-art AW139 meets the most stringent civil and government standards, including the latest FAA and EASA FAR/JAR Part 29 amendments. Two powerful Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6C-67C engines with FADEC deliver a high weight-to-power ratio maximising safety in any operational condition, including Cat A, Class 1 hot and high sorties. The most spacious cabin in its class with excellent ease of access and egress by large sliding cabin doors as well as advanced avionics and dedicated equipment contribute to make the AW139 perfectly suited for EMS and SAR missions.

Orders for more than 430 AW139s have been placed by over 100 customers from more than 40 countries for several applications including EMS, SAR, offshore transport, VIP/corporate transport, law enforcement, fire fighting, utility and other commercial and government roles.
