SELEX Galileo develops a new NATO compliant Common Ground Control Station for Unmanned Air Systems

SELEX Galileo, of Finmeccanica, is set to introduce the development of its new NATO compliant, state-of the-art Common Ground Control Station (CGCS), at the Avalon 2009 Air Show in Victoria, Australia.

The CGCS is in pre-production stage at the Company's site in Basildon, UK and is fully compliant with NATO's stringent STANAG 4586 guidelines and standards for imagery, command and control.

The CGCS is based on a common operating architecture and designed for maximum flexibility and speed of operation with the addition of ‘plug-in' exploitation modules to ensure that the CGCS can be easily updated to suit requirements, and to allow for quick upgrades with the immersion of new technology.

As a platform agnostic, the CGCS will function with any of Finmeccanica's UAS and with other manufacturer's aircraft, starting with the Company's next generation FALCO Tactical Unmanned Air System. Imagery processed by the system can be provided from a variety of manned and unmanned sources.

The Ground Control Station is network enabled and will integrate within the ISTAR "cloud" publishing intelligence products (data, reports, annotated images, processed video clips etc) where required. These products are also passed to a database for storage as part of the ISTAR distributed database "cloud". The database architecture supports grouping across wide area networks.

SELEX Galileo's unmanned system capability includes the FALCO Tactical UAS, an unrivalled and world leading range of sensors and payload systems, a range of mini-micro UAS and a unique expertise in mission management and avionics systems.
