Barco forms avionics partnership with Monitor Soft in Russia
Avionics display provider Barco has entered into a partnership with Zhukovsky-based aerospace company Monitor Soft to jointly provide cockpit mission systems on the Russian market. Through this collaboration, Barco will further strengthen its solid position on the Russian cockpit display market.
"The Russian market has always been an important focus for us, and in ten years time, we have achieved a very dominant market share on civil aircraft," said Yves Vanhauwaert, Avionics Market Director at Barco. "This agreement with Monitor Soft enables us to tap into the important market for mission management applications, based around our MDU-268 platform. Regardless of the economic climate, there is a great potential for these versatile, state-of-the-art mission display applications that can be installed on both fixed and rotary wing platforms."
"Thanks to this partnership, we can offer our customers a new and unique mission management solution that combines Barco's powerful MDU-268 display unit with an advanced navigation and task management software suite," explained Sergey Trofimov, CEO of Monitor Soft. "The new system introduces several value-added innovations. For example, its compact footprint and low power consumption ensure an easy integration in virtually any aircraft or helicopter cockpit environment."
At the heart of the new mission system is Barco's MDU-268 Mission Display Unit. The MDU-268 is a powerful, avionics-grade 6x8 inch display derived from Barco's field-proven CHDD (Cockpit Head Down Display) family. Equipped with the latest, sunlight-readable AMLCD (Active Matrix Liquid Crystal Display) technology, the MDU-268 delivers excellent brightness and contrast values, as well as a wide 80° viewing angle in all directions. This allows the same unit to be used in portrait as well as landscape mode.
The MDU-268 unit is compatible with FLIR (Forward Looking Infrared), daylight video cameras, moving maps, computers and radar and is DO-178B and DO-254 certified. Barco and Monitor Soft announced that the new mission application will be immediately available for commercial distribution.
