QinetiQ North America to Deliver Asset Tracking Services to FEMA
$15.6m Contract will serve federal emergency response and recovery missions
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has awarded QinetiQ North America a contract worth up to $15.6M to provide Asset Tracking Services.
Under the contract, QinetiQ North America will manage the services that facilitate in-transit visibility under FEMA's Total Asset Visibility Program. The work will include provision of all asset tracking devices and supplemental equipment, GPS messaging services to locate tagged assets or shipments, ensuring secure sharing of data-feeds and messaging, technical support for ongoing operations, and maintenance. The contract also calls for continued integration with the Department of Homeland Security's and FEMA's technical architecture, as well as surge capabilities for disaster operations.
"This is an excellent opportunity for us to bring our strong mission support capabilities to FEMA," says Jim Graves, Senior Vice President of QinetiQ North America's Homeland Security Business Unit. "We have long enjoyed a close relationship with other elements of the Department of Homeland Security, and a chance to work with an agency as important and professional as FEMA is something we all look forward to. We think our capabilities are an excellent fit with their mission. Moving urgently needed supplies into a disaster area needs a solid, reliable asset tracking system, and that is what we and our partners will deliver."
"FEMA's mission gives it one of the most challenging logistical requirements in the government," says Steve Cambone, President of QinetiQ North America's Mission Solutions Group. "Their equipment and materials have to show up when and where people need it, and under some of the most difficult circumstances any organization faces. Logistics should not be improvised under emergency conditions, and we intend to give FEMA the support it needs to ensure mission accomplishment."
