AIS markets the 'TERPROM' digital terrain navigation system for Fixed Wing and Helicopter platforms at the Dubai Airshow
Atlantic Inertial Systems (AIS) will exhibit its TERPROM digital terrain system, designed to provide non-GPS navigation and obstacle avoidance for both fixed wing and helicopter platforms, at this year's Dubai Airshow. In service on over 5000 aircraft across the globe, the system is operational on all Eurofighter aircraft, as well as the Royal Air Force Hawk Advanced Jet Trainer.
Hugh Williams, Engineering Director of AIS explains, "TERPROM is the only system of its capability on the market. The most proven digital terrain system in the world today, it successfully blends and interprets the inputs of many sensors to provide the pilot with full situational awareness, enabling him to fly far more safely and effectively."
TERPROM offers fighter aircraft Terrain Referenced Navigation, predictive ground proximity warning plus precision weapon aiming to enable safer, faster and more precise operations.
For transport aircraft TERPROM offers a highly capable Terrain Awareness Warning System (TAWS) specifically designed for freight/transport operations. It is the only Controlled Flight into Terrain (CFIT) protection system specifically designed as a low level tactical system.
And in today's swiftly changing environment, with the growing dependency on the flexibility of rotary wing aircraft, TERPROM has been evolved to provide highly effective passive navigation and terrain warning to the pilot as he operates close to the ground, seeking cover from the terrain. Helicopter TERPROM generates Advanced Terrain Avoidance Cues (ATAC) and provides predictive obstruction and wire threat advice. Integrated with other onboard sensors it also offers the potential to fly nap-of-the-earth operations automatically and far more safely.
