Full range of DEFENCELL on Show at Counter Terror 2010
J & S Franklin Ltd will be exhibiting DefenCell, the new generation of lightweight earth/sand filled barrier systems, and DefenCell Profile300 Protection System, developed with Terram, and supplied to UK, US and several European governments, at Counter Terror Expo 2010, which will be held next week, 14th and 15th April at The National Hall, Olympia, London, England.

DefenCell is strong and durable, compact, non-metallic and rapidly deployed and offers a wide range of permanent and temporary protection for perimeter security, HVM barriers, blast mitigation and ballistic protection. DefenCell provides a number of significant technical advantages over other barrier systems, noticeably it is one man portable and deployable, its weight, (being up to 10 times lighter than comparable products), it requires 5 times less transport volume, and being non metallic, with no cages or hinges, there is no secondary shrapnel or communications interference.
Profile 300, developed from DefenCell, the unique force protection system, has expanded upon the initial products strengths and versatility to emerge as a perfect solution to offering inconspicuous protection of public buildings, perimeter security, and HVM protection. It is made from strong geotextile materials, which when layered in construction can be used to build barriers, berms or bunds. Due to the structure of Profile300, and its ease of installation, it is ideally suited for use in environmentally, and visually sensitive locations, where it can be easily grassed or planted, and quickly blends into the surroundings, whilst still providing a proven, superior, substantial protection from terrorist attack and environmental threats.
It is its cellular design that not only provides strength but also makes it more flexible for the design and construction of protection systems. It can be cut and shaped as needs require without loosing any of its inherent strength or integrity, and can be driven on by heavy machinery right from laying the first layer, meaning it can be driven on during filling.
These systems can be deployed in a wide variety of roles, including ground stabilisation, construction access, barriers, flood barriers, and protection of critical infrastructure sites.
DefenCell PROFILE 300 is currently protecting several critical infrastructure sites within the United Kingdom.
DefenCell is currently on operational deployment in Afghanistan with the British Army, where it is protecting two highly vulnerable ammunition supply points in two separate locations at Camp Bastion in Helmand province and Kandahar Airport, in Chad with the Irish Defence Force, and a number of US bases. It is deployed in facilities and force protection roles in the UK and Italy where it continues to meet the exacting requirements of operational troop and equipment protection in hostile environments.
