TSA Certifies Second Configuration of Telair HULD

Telair International, a Teleflex Company (NYSE:TFX), announced today that the U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has issued a Blast Test Certification for a second configuration of the Telair Hardened Unit Load Device (HULD).

The new Telair design is a customized lower-deck unit intended to provide a separate on-board compartment for targeted items. With the TSA Blast Test Certification in-hand, Telair will now deliver an initial order of the new HULD design. The name of the customer and number of units delivered was not disclosed.

"We are pleased to report another milestone in our strategy to lead in this important market emerging with the war against terrorism, said Axel Hauner, Telair President. "Telair was first to receive TSA Blast Test Certification for an HULD, first to receive TSA In-Service Certification - retesting a unit after time in actual operation, and now first to receive TSA approval for a second configuration. This latest design responds to interest expressed for some time in the industry.

The testing determined that the Telair HULD can withstand an onboard explosion and also contain a post-event fire. The testing took place at the FAA Aberdeen Proving Grounds within an actual aircraft frame under conditions simulating operating conditions. The aircraft frame structure was also examined after the test by TSA experts and deemed survivable.
