GKN Aerospace to supply key titanium and aluminium components for Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner

GKN Aerospace has been awarded a contract by Boeing, to supply complex machined titanium and aluminium parts and assemblies for the horizontal stabiliser of the 787-9 Dreamliner.

Manufacture and assembly work will be undertaken at GKN Aerospace facilities in Long Island, NY, and St. Louis, MO, USA.

Kevin Cummings, CEO - GKN Aerospace, North America comments: "This new package of work extends our significant participation with Boeing on the Dreamliner programme, notably in supplying key titanium and aluminium components. The addition of assembly activity as part of this contract enables us to deliver structure to Boeing for direct installation onto the airframe."

GKN Aerospace is a key contributor to the Boeing 787 Dreamliner programme, providing a range of structural titanium wing to body and wing to nacelle fittings and complex machined assemblies and wing structures. The company also supplies the aircraft's advanced floor assemblies, seat tracks and panel supports as well as components of the electro-thermal wing ice protection system, the extra-large passenger cabin windows and the high performance cockpit transparencies. GKN's engine products business provides structures for both the Rolls-Royce and GE engines selected for the 787 - including the state of the art rear fan case for the Trent 1000 engine and the all-composite fan case for the GEnx engine.
