L-3 TRL to launch next-generation jammers at IDEX 2013
Gloucestershire-based defence manufacturer L-3 TRL announced today that it is launching its latest range of next-generation jammers at the 11th edition of the International Defence Exhibition & Conference (IDEX) taking place at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) in Abu Dhabi, UAE, 17-21 February 2013.
Making its fourth appearance at the largest defence exhibition in the MENA region, L-3 TRL will be showcasing its revolutionary lightweight manpack jammer for flexible dismounted protection and its compact high-power jammer for effective, powerful protection in multiple scenarios.
Utilising award-winning technology, these latest additions to the BROADSHIELD® family of Electronic Counter Measures (ECM) optimise size, weight and power; maintaining effective operational performance previously unseen in the marketplace for the ultimate in adaptable ECM.
"IDEX is the perfect platform to launch our next-generation ECM solutions," said Richard Flitton, L-3 TRL vice president and head of its Electronic Warfare division. "These enhancements to our BROADSHIELD portfolio mark another step toward helping defence, security and law enforcement organisations around the world protect their personnel and assets against the ever-present RCIED threat."
L-3 TRL's new lightweight manpack, the BROADSHIELD Lightweight Counter-Measures Suite (LCS), is compact in design and can operate in both low-band (20 MHz to 520 MHz) and high-band (420 MHz to 6 GHz) frequencies. The lightweight design increases the agility of soldiers during missions, whilst providing lifesaving protection against the threat of RCIEDs.
Where a high-power jamming capability is required, but space is limited, L-3 TRL's new high-power jammer, the BROADSHIELD High-Power Compact System (HCS), can be configured into a stack of up to three interoperable units, providing up to 160 watts of jamming capability across a continuous frequency range of 20 MHz to 6 GHz. A highly flexible, modular system, the HCS is one of the most capable solutions in its class.
