DCI wins maritime security project : CRIMSON
DCI has been awarded with a European Union service contract worth of one million euro regarding maritime security. The CRIMSON (Critical Maritime Routes Programme Monitoring, Support and Evaluation Mechanism) project will last for two years.
The project aims at supporting the coordination of maritime security projects funded by the European Union, within the framework of the Critical Maritime Routes Program.
The stakes are high as it is about:
- assessing the Critical Maritime Routes Program impact on maritime security issues;
- strengthening the communication between all stakeholders, with a website creation, and the organization of maritime security seminaries.
"Due to globalization and liberalization of exchange, international seaborne trade has greatly increased during the last 40 years. This growth has in parallel led to an increase of illicit activities and notably piracy" states the Admiral François Dupont, DCI-NAVFCO Director. "We are proud to work with the European Union on this project, as we have a real expertise in the maritime security realm."
