Kuwait Air Force students complete Selex ES Electronic Warfare Operational Support (EWOS) training
Members of the Kuwait Air Force have just completed a six month training course at the Electronic Warfare
Operational Support (EWOS) facility of Selex ES, a Finmeccanica company. The course transferred the
essential knowledge and skills that will allow the Kuwait Air Force to get the most out of the Selex ES HIDAS
Electronic Warfare (EW) equipment currently installed on the country's Apache helicopters. The knowledge
transfer will also allow Kuwait to begin to develop a national EWOS capability.
The training follows Kuwait's acquisition of Selex ES's Helicopter Integrated Defensive Aids System
(HIDAS), currently in service on the Air Force's AH64-D Apache helicopters, and will allow Kuwait to adapt
the system in response to new and developing threats.
"In the fast-paced world of EW, equipment alone no longer provides the most effective solution. This training
will allow our Kuwaiti customer to program their electronic warfare hardware to effectively defend against
modern threats and new challenges as they emerge in the future" said Ramie Smith, Vice President EWOS
at Selex ES.
Following the training, Selex ES will deliver a number of Mission Data sets to Kuwait, allowing the country to
begin its assessment and development of a national Electronic Warfare capability. A Selex ES EW expert
has also recently been dispatched to Kuwait for a year to continue the close working relationship and support
to the Kuwait Air Force.
