Cyalume will be introducing three new products to its range at this year's DSEi

Cyalume will be intoducing three new products to its range at this years DSEi, they are the VisiPadâ„¢ : Rectangular Marking Emitter, the ToTaL IRâ„¢ a non-toxic intruder detection and tracking powder and HG1 a non-pyrotechnic Hand Grenade Trainer.

1/ VisiPadâ„¢ : Rectangular Marking Emitter

Ultra-flat and ultra-light, VisiPadâ„¢ is a rectangular and space saving (11 cm x 6 cm) chemical light device. VisiPadâ„¢ has a self-adhesive backing that allows for placement on patients, buildings or other structures in various environments including ATEX areas. Pre-cut hooks and holes allow for hanging on wires or lines.

Moreover, its flat surface allows it to be marked easily with any permanent marker, this makes identification more precise. It is also possible to have a bespoke design printed on the VisiPadâ„¢ for high quantity orders.

Designed to minimize accidental activation, VisiPadâ„¢ can be easily stored in pockets, pouches or kits.

With a 10 -hour duration, VisiPadâ„¢ is waterproof and non-toxic with a phthalate-free formulation; it provides light without heat, sparks or gas emission. Completely autonomous and always ready to use, VisiPadâ„¢ is non-flammable and maintenance free.

The combined use of Visipadâ„¢ with the ChemLight® light sticks allows you to set up effective marking quickly and easily.

2/ ToTaL IRâ„¢, an acronym of Tag, Track & Locate: the detection and tracking powder

ToTaL IRâ„¢ is a non-toxic, infrared powder looking like dirt which can detect intrusion into restricted areas, and shows the direction taken.

As opposed to conventional and costly high-tech detection systems, ToTaL IRâ„¢ is much more down to earth. You simply mix two powders to get an immediate and powerful infrared emission. This technology, based on chemiluminescence, consists of mixing two solids instead of two liquids to get a powder that is only visible with night vision equipment.

ToTaL IRâ„¢ sticks to shoes, tires, clothes, money, contraband etc., allowing intruder identification.
Available in Loam and Brown, ToTaL IRâ„¢ is used by military forces and law enforcement units

3/ HG1, Hand Grenade Trainer, new product in the range Cyalume® Battlefield Effects Simulators

The HG1 Hand Grenade Trainer is part of the range of non-pyrotechnic Battlefield Effects Simulators made by Cyalume®. The technology used for this product range is a combination of CO2, a powder to simulate smoke signatures, and rubber tubes to create an audible effect.

The HG1 constitutes an exception among this simulators range, since the audible signal is created by electronically detonating a 1.4S rated pyrotechnic initiator, which is similar to the one used in airbags.

The HG1 Hand Grenade allows instructors to produce high-realistic training environments and help trainees to immerse in true-to-life situations so that they can train safely under realistic conditions. The intense audible shock effect (120 dB) and visible shock-effect (smoke signature of 3m x 3m) delivered by the HG1, replicate real-world detonations. The HG1 generates a cordite scent that reproduces the smell of the real grenades. Those features provide an instantaneous high-output explosion creating an intense "shock-effect" for live training. Safety of use is guaranteed during the explosion.

Furthermore, MILES technology can be adapted to these HG1 grenades in order to integrate them into computerized simulation systems and instrumented training.

Once the grenade has been thrown and detonated, it automatically goes into recovery mode with LEDs flashing every 90 seconds accompanied by an electronic ‘chirp' to facilitate the recovery of the grenade.

The HG1 Hand Grenade simulates the US M67 Hand Grenade in weight and feel, and is rapidly reloadable for multiple training evolutions. The consumables are environmentally friendly, safe and non-toxic.
