Joining forces in new anti-terrorism initiative for ports (ISPS Code)
Hoevelaken - At the initiative of Bosch Division Security Projects, eight reputable companies signed an agreement today in Zeist to work together in the area of port security.
The eight companies are Imtech Security (Capelle aan den IJssel), Tenovis Telecommunication (Hoofddorp), Zoca Container Security (Lelystad), B&G Nederland (Best), Bosch Communication Center (Nijmegen), Galjema Technical Consulting (Rijswijk), Klüh Service Management (Schiphol) and Bosch Division Security Projects (Hoevelaken).
The partnership will operate under the name of Port Security Combination.
After "9/11, the United States announced a package of measures for the prevention of terrorist attacks via ports and other shipping facilities. The American initiative was embraced by the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) and resulted in the introduction of the ISPS Code (International Ship and Port Facility Security Code).
Implementation of the measures stipulated by the ISPS Code is an ambitious project for both port authorities and the security industry, not only because of the complexity involved in implementing and maintaining the measures, but also because of the geographic area that must be covered by the measures. To meet the challenge, public/private partnerships are required. For many port authorities, a combined approach based on outsourcing is more effective and efficient than an individual approach.
Port Security Combination offers a total solution for these problems, bundling the strengths of individual products and services into an integrated one-stop-shopping concept. The concept ranges from initial recommendations to continuous maintenance and updates for the entire package of anti-terrorism measures, including financing and operations where desired.
The new product and service concept will give the companies in the ports of the Benelux the opportunity to make their contribution to worldwide efforts to combat terrorism and to rapidly obtain ISPS certification.
