Rockwell Collins awarded L-3 Mission Integration Republic of Korea Navy avionics contract

Rockwell Collins' Flight2â„¢ avionics were selected by subcontractor L-3 Mission Integration for the P-3C upgrade contract for the Republic of Korea Navy (ROKN). Korean Air serves as the prime contractor.

Rockwell Collins' Flight2 avionics will be installed on eight ROKN P-3C aircraft as part of the Lot I upgrade contract awarded by L-3. After completion of the upgrade, the aircraft will have a configuration common with the other eight P-3CK aircraft upgraded under the Korea Lot II Maritime Patrol Aircraft (MPA) program.

"Republic of Korea Navy pilots will experience greater situational awareness and communications capabilities with the highly advanced avionics onboard these aircraft," said Troy Brunk, vice president and general manager of Airborne Solutions for Rockwell Collins. "Through our work with the Korean Navy, Korean Air and L-3 Mission Integration, we look forward to continuing our long legacy of helping ROKN P-3 pilots achieve their missions with these important upgrades."

The Rockwell Collins Flight2 avionics system will provide the ROKN aircraft with greater situational awareness by meeting Communication, Navigation, Surveillance/Air Traffic Management (CNS/ATM) airspace requirements. Included in the avionics upgrade are new primary flight displays, state-of-the-art flight management system, communication radios, navigation sensors and surveillance systems.
