Singapore Airlines Selects Telair Cargo Loading Systems For B747-400 Special Freighter Conversions
MIESBACH, GERMANY, February 2005: Telair International, a Teleflex Company (NYSE:TFX), announced today it has received a firm order from SIA Cargo Limited for main and lower deck cargo loading systems for three
B747-400 Special Freighters.
The conversions will begin in 2006. Singapore Airlines will draw on its fleet of B747-400 Passenger aircraft to create the Special Freighters on demand. The first conversion will be performed by TAECO in Xiamen, China, with the four remaining conversions at the carrier's Singapore Airlines Engineering Company Limited facilities.
"Singapore Airlines is renowned worldwide for its operating acumen and business vision, and so it is with extreme pride that we welcome this prestigious airline into the growing family of customers investing in our Special Freighter cargo loading systems, said Axel Hauner, Telair President.
"There is now significant momentum behind the value of converting B747-400 Passenger aircraft into Special Freighters, and Telair is strongly placed within this value proposition. Every airline that has announced a conversion has also announced that it will rebuild the aircraft with Telair Cargo Loading Systems. We will work tirelessly going forward to validate this endorsement.
Other airlines recently selecting the Telair Cargo Loading System for Special Freighter conversions include Cathay Pacific Airways, Nippon Cargo Airlines, Japan Airlines, and Korean Air.
Telair Cargo Loading Systems are among the lowest weight systems available, feature uniquely intelligent power drive units that minimize system and aircraft downtime, and include interactive on-board diagnostics that help schedule preventive maintenance.
