Korean Air Selects Telair Cargo Systems For 747-400 Special Freighter Conversions and New Extended Range Freighters

MIESBACH, GERMANY, February 2005: Telair International, a Teleflex Company (NYSE:TFX), announced today it has received firm orders from Korean Air for main and lower deck cargo loading systems for five (5) B747-400 Special Freighters and two (2) new B747-400 Extended Range Freighters. The orders include options for main and lower deck systems for five (5) additional Special Freighters and two (2) additional Extended Range Freighters.

The first of the five firm Special Freighters - B747-400 Passenger aircraft converted into cargo aircraft - will be provided by TAECO in Xiamen, China. Korean Air Aerospace Division will convert the remaining four firm aircraft at its facilities in Pusan, Korea. Boeing will install the Telair systems on the two firm Extended Range Freighters as Buyer Furnished Equipment (BFE) at its facilities in Seattle. The delivery of all aircraft, firm and options, will take place between 2005 and 2012.

"Korean Air is recognized as a true global leader in air cargo and, characteristic of this leadership, has studied and tested the Telair system in exhausting detail against all competition, said Telair President Axel Hauner. "Their commitment to our technology and service for their newest B747-400 Extended Range Freighters, and for their critical initial conversion of B747-400 passenger aircraft into Special Freighters, is the strongest endorsement yet of the advantages Telair systems bring to the market.

"We believe Telair is unsurpassed in combining system weight savings, robust performance, and 24/7 service worldwide - and the market is clearly validating that belief.

Korean Air is the fourth in as many major carriers over the last six months to select the Telair Cargo Loading System for B747-400 Special Freighter conversions. Cathay Pacific was the first airline to announce such a conversion last March, followed by Nippon Cargo Airlines and Japan Airlines. Korean Air's announcement brings the total number of B747-400 Special Freighters that will fly Telair Cargo Loading Systems to a total of eighteen (18) firm aircraft, with options for an additional nineteen (19) aircraft conversions.

Leading carriers worldwide have equipped new B747-400 Freighters with Telair main and lower deck systems since in 2000. Korean Air has purchased and installed a total of twelve main and lower deck Telair Cargo Loading Systems on B747-400 aircraft.

Telair Cargo Loading Systems are among the lowest weight systems available, distinguished by uniquely intelligent power drive units that sense and react to operating conditions to minimize system and aircraft downtime. First-of-its-kind interactive on-board diagnostics also constantly monitor the system to help optimally schedule preventive maintenance.
