Dragonair to Install Telair Cargo Loading Systems On Five
B747-400 Special Freighters
MIESBACH, GERMANY, February 2005: Telair International, a Teleflex Company (NYSE:TFX), announced today it has received a firm order from Dragon Air, a major regional carrier based in Hong Kong, for main and lower deck systems serving the conversion of five (5) B747-400 Passenger aircraft into B747-400 Special Freighters. The first conversions will take place at TAECO Xiamen China and subsequent ones at Singapore Airline Engineering Company Limited facilities beginning in 2006.
Dragonair is the fifth carrier to announce the conversion of B747-400 aircraft into Special Freighters over the past sixth months - all six airlines selecting Telair's cargo systems as their equipment of choice.
"With five firm conversions Dragonair is moving aggressively into the B747-400 Special Freighter market, building their position as a regional cargo leader, said Telair President Axel Hauner. "Their selection of our systems provides us the opportunity to demonstrate to them and their peers Telair's commitment to regional carriers and their specific needs for growth. We will serve them on-demand 24/7 wherever they fly to ensure their success.
Telair Cargo Loading Systems are very low weight without sacrificing robust performance. State-of-the-art steerable and in-line power drive units (PDU's) feature embedded intelligence that sense when and how to operate to ease pallet movement and self-protect from damage. Telair's Central Maintenance Computer System - providing real-time on-board diagnostics of the PDU's, among other features - allows the carrier to best schedule preventive maintenance.
