UTC Aerospace Systems Selected to provide Wheels and Carbon Brakes for the Boeing 737 MAX

UTC Aerospace Systems has been selected by The Boeing Company to supply wheels and carbon brakes for all models of the Boeing 737 MAX. The company will provide the equipment through its Landing Systems facility in Troy, Ohio. UTC Aerospace Systems is a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).

UTC Aerospace Systems will provide the main wheel, nose wheel and carbon brakes for the 737 MAX. The carbon brakes use proprietary DURACARB® carbon heat sink material proven in service on more than 3,100 aircraft world-wide to provide a 35 percent brake life advantage over competitive products, providing significant cost savings for operators.

"We have supplied wheels and brakes for the Boeing 737 program since 1978 and we are proud to extend that long partnership to the 737 MAX. We look forward to supporting Boeing and this extremely efficient new airplane," stated Jim Wharton, senior vice president, Landing Systems.

UTC Aerospace Systems designs, manufactures and services integrated systems and components for the aerospace and defense industries. UTC Aerospace Systems supports a global customer base with significant worldwide manufacturing and customer service facilities.

United Technologies Corp., based in Hartford, Connecticut, provides high technology products and services to the building and aerospace industries.

Boeing's newest family of single-aisle airplanes - 737 MAX 7, 737 MAX 8 and 737 MAX 9 - will build on the Next-Generation 737's popularity and reliability while delivering customers big advances in fuel-efficiency and environmental performance. Airlines operating the 737 MAX will see a 14 percent fuel efficiency improvement over today's most fuel-efficient single-aisle airplanes - and 20 percent better than the original Next-Generation 737s when they first entered service. First delivery of the 737 MAX is planned for 2017. The 737 MAX has accumulated more than 2,000 orders from 41 customers around the world since its launch in August 2011.
