BMT Isis has been appointed to deliver a high level Safety and Environmental Diagnostic review of specific UK MOD Land Equipment Operating Centre (LEOC) Safety and Environmental Management System (SEMS).

It will cover multiple UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S) Programme Offices and help to set a baseline for the optimisation of Safety and Environmental management for the future.

Over a period of six months, this project, set at the highest levels of governance and assurance in LEOC, will provide a detailed analysis of Safety and Environmental Management processes across: Armoured Vehicle Programme (AVP), Soldier Systems Programme (SSP) and Operational Support Programme (OSP).

BMT Isis will assess relevant SEMS against a common standard to ensure that they are compliant with relevant UK legislation and defence standards. A final report expected early 2015 will describe in detail the effectiveness of current practices, architectures and levels of compliance. Furthermore, the report will propose solutions to directly increase the level of compliance and robustness of the safety management systems across specific programmes within DE&S.

Additionally, BMT Isis will undertake benchmarking activity in other allied areas to ensure that best practice is migrated across the Operating Centre (OC) to support a common methodology and improve overall safety and environmental maturity.

Mike Prince, Managing Director at BMT Isis commented: "By virtue of our long standing engagement at the highest levels of safety and environment management we were able to demonstrate a wide knowledge and experience of the standards and best practice operating across the Land domain".

He continued: "We are delighted to have won this contract in the face of strong competition and will continue to support DE&S in developing robust safety and environmental processes that are compliant with current International and local legislation. We believe this support to be fundamental to the transfer of Safety and Environmental Assurance and Governance responsibilities between DE&S and its wider stakeholder community."
