BAE Systems shows its latest direct fire support weapon system at Land Forces 2014

Adelaide, Australia: BAE Systems this week showcases its fully integrated 40mm Automatic Grenade Launcher System at Land Forces 2014. The military-off-the-shelf solution is fitted with a fire control system and thermal sight, and will be proposed to the Commonwealth for the Land 40 Phase 2 (Lightweight Automatic Grenade Launcher) project.

BAE Systems Australia's Director - Land & Integrated Systems, Graeme Bent, said, "BAE Systems is proposing a reliable, stable and accurate integrated weapon system that is decisive in combat. We have teamed with Heckler & Koch and Rheinmetall to deliver an advanced, integrated weapon system that is used by the world's most respected militaries."

The combat proven system is currently in-service with NATO countries and New Zealand. It offers multi-weapon versatility and delivers both direct and indirect fire capability across the full spectrum of munitions, including air burst. The system comprises the:
• Heckler & Koch 40mm Grenade Machine Gun
• Rheinmetall Vingmate Fire Control System
• BAE Systems AN/PAS-13C Thermal Weapon Sight

"Our system is lightweight, easy to operate and fast into action to meet the multi-role combat needs of the Australian Defence Force, today and tomorrow."

It provides precision to engage targets with few munitions, can be operated on vehicles and it also transforms the weapon's capabilities with new firing modes and air burst munitions effects.

Under the proposed solution, BAE Systems will provide in-service support to the Australian Defence Force for the new, integrated capability.

The Company's proposal is due to be submitted in October 2014. It follows a 2009 contract for 437 BAE Systems heavy weapon thermal sights, which were fitted to the M3 Carl Gustaf - the first direct fire support weapon system delivered under Land 40 Phase 2.
