GKN Aerospace showcases aftermarket support for aero-engine and airframe at MRO Europe, 2014
Examples of GKN Aerospace transparencies, aero-engine and aerostructures aftermarket expertise will be on display on stand 346 at MRO Europe, Madrid, October 7th - 9th, 2014.
Representatives at the show will be available to discuss the company's: extensive engine fan blade repair activity; complete engine repair and overhaul operation; market-leading transparencies aftermarket support service; and growing aerostructures repair activity.
The company's global engine fan blade repair service supports over 280 customers worldwide including OEM's (such as CFMI, IAE, GE, Pratt & Whitney, and Rolls-Royce), airlines and overhaul shops. It has been fully OEM-approved as a repair source for fan blades for more than three decades and today repairs more than 67,000 parts annually. For the fourth time in five years GKN Aerospace's Chem-tronics operation has won the ‘OneAero MRO Top Shop' award for the best engine component repair service. In addition it has recently extended its GE production approvals to add the overhaul and repair of GE CF6-80E fan blades to its list of services.
The company's engine services business is one of the leaders in the PW100 and TFE731 engine overhaul market with an established OEM authorised service facility that supports approximately 200 engines each year. The facility undertakes all levels of engine maintenance up to and including full overhaul and test of commercial and military aero-engines.
The aerostructures repair operation specialises in the repair & overhaul of all composite and bonded-metallic, primary & secondary aircraft structural parts and assemblies. This operation has over 20 years of experience supporting OEM's, operators and repairs stations on both civil and military platforms and also offers fully overhauled spare aircraft components for sale and lease under the GKN Aerospace 2LP brand.
GKN Aerospace's aftermarket service for transparencies is focused primarily on the commercial transport sector and offers a full FAA 145 and EASA repair station capability, including window framing, cabin window repair and flexible exchange programmes for all Boeing and Airbus aircraft. The company's flight deck windows, passenger cabin windows and glazings are the best in class option for OEM's and airlines around the world. GKN Aerospace designs and manufactures transparencies for aircraft in all market segments, including the canopy for the F-35 Lightning II, passenger windows for the Boeing 787 and the flight deck and cabin windows for the Bombardier Global 7000 and Global 8000. All GKN Aerospace cabin windows, manufactured for OEM or aftermarket applications, are CrystalVue IIâ„¢ coated to provide long term optical clarity and the longest on-wing life of any cabin window on the market today. Our cabin windows are standard fit on all Boeing and Embraer Aircraft, as well as a large portion of the Airbus fleet.
GKN Aerospace's electro thermal de-icing technology will also be showcased. These ice protection slats are produced by applying a unique Spraymatâ„¢ coating to the composite component creating a lightweight, rugged "smart structure" which, when linked to an electronic control system, provides highly effective, controllable and targeted ice protection.
