Rockwell Collins expands information management offerings with acquisition of Pacific Avionics
Rockwell Collins has acquired Pacific Avionics Pty. Ltd, a Singapore-based company specializing in technologies used for wireless information distribution, including inflight entertainment and connectivity (IFEC).
"This acquisition builds on our overall information management strategy by enabling wireless distribution of digital information aboard the aircraft," said Kelly Ortberg, CEO and President of Rockwell Collins.
Pacific Avionics' powerful wireless cabin intranet and internet connectivity platform will be integrated into Rockwell Collins' portfolio of cabin products and services, bringing airlines a number of advanced capabilities, including:
The ability to stream video content to more than 250 passengers simultaneously
A flexible architecture to support a wide array of apps and services
Faster wireless speeds onboard the aircraft
"These enhanced capabilities are a good example of how we're further expanding our cabin offerings beyond entertainment into new onboard applications and services to create a unique travel experience for airline passengers," added Kent Statler, executive vice president and chief operating officer, Commercial Systems for Rockwell Collins.
