UTC Aerospace Systems joins Mexico for inaugural Aerospace Fair
UTC Aerospace Systems will showcase its Mexican operations and capabilities at the first-ever Aerospace Fair Mexico (Feria Aeroespacial Mexico 2015 - FAMEX), which takes place at the military base in Santa Lucia, Mexico, on April 22 - 25. UTC Aerospace Systems is a unit of United Technologies Corp.
At Booths C-I-09 and C-I-12, UTC Aerospace Systems will display a variety of the aerospace products that it produces, with a thrust reverser from a Boeing 787 Dreamliner nacelle system taking center stage. Nacelle systems are the complex aerodynamic structures that surround and protect an airplane's engine, enhancing fuel efficiency by reducing drag and also enabling reduced engine noise.
Thrust reversers for both the Rolls-Royce and General Electric engine variants of the Dreamliner are assembled at the UTC Aerospace Systems - Aerostructures facility in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico. Thrust reversers, part of an airplane's nacelle system, provide stopping power for an airplane upon landing. On the 787, each thrust reverser provides the same stopping power as two locomotive engines. Also on display are components produced at the company's Engine & Environmental Control Systems facility in Guaymas, Sonora, Mexico.
FAMEX is the first air show of its kind to be held in Mexico and will bring together the commercial side of defense and aerospace business with a celebration marking the 100-year anniversary of the Mexican Air Force. Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto will officiate the opening of FAMEX with a ribbon cutting ceremony the morning of April 22.
UTC Aerospace Systems designs, manufactures and services integrated systems and components for the aerospace and defense industries. UTC Aerospace Systems supports a global customer base with significant worldwide manufacturing and customer service facilities.
