Cathay Pacific Airways selects Rockwell Collins' new visual system for A350 XWB flight simulator
Rockwell Collins integrated visual solution combines EP®-8000 image generator with JVC Kenwood VS2500 laser-hybrid projector for higher fidelity
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (June 3, 2015) - Cathay Pacific Airways Ltd has selected Rockwell Collins' new visual system that combines the JVC Kenwood VS2500 laser-hybrid projector with Rockwell Collins' industry-leading EP®-8000 image generator. The new visual system will be installed on the airline's first Airbus A350 XWB full flight simulator this month in Hong Kong.
The VS2500 projector brings together the new extended life laser-hybrid light source with e-shift technology that shifts sub-frames by 0.5 pixels both vertically and horizontally to achieve four times the pixel density of the original content.
"We're making our industry-leading commercial visual system even better with this new projection technology," said LeAnn Ridgeway, vice president and general manager, Simulation and Training Systems for Rockwell Collins. "Pilots will appreciate the improved fidelity that our new solution brings, and airlines will appreciate the extended life and reduced maintenance, resulting in lower cost of ownership."
The Rockwell Collins visual system raises the bar for realistic and affordable pilot training. The seamlessly integrated combination of the new laser-hybrid projectors with the EP-8000 image generator offers unmatched performance, which meets and exceeds all current worldwide regulatory commercial flight training requirements.
