BAE SYSTEMS PARTNERS WITH ACQUIS ON GEOSPATIAL INFORMATION SYSTEM
BAE Systems and Acquis Inc. have announced a partnering agreement to develop and supply enterprise Geospatial Information Systems (eGIS) utilising the Acquis Data Editor (ADE) technology.
Through its Intergrated System Technology business (INSYTE) BAE Systems enables customers to achieve their vision of the battlespace through the delivery of integrated information systems and complex, network enabled solutions. Together with Acquis, it aims to provide significant improvements in the provision of collecting, managing, analysing and referencing geo-spatial data to support decision-making.
ADE is based on Oracle Application Server 10g and offers an open, web-based, data centric solution for the build and development of enterprise spatial applications. Under the agreement, Insyte and Acquis will build a concept demonstrator in Insytes' Battlespace Management Evaluation (BME) Centre located in Farnborough, UK. The demonstration will exhibit the import, management, capture, analysis and dissemination of geospatial intelligence within an integrated defence Enterprise architecture.
"Insyte is always looking for new, innovative technologies to address the current and future issues of the geospatial community. In ADE we have found a low-cost, multi-user spatial application, which is fully integrated into the Oracle technology stack and can be easily configured to meet the requirements of the user community, said Clive Richardson, Managing Director.
Liam McGeown, CEO of Acquis went on to explain, "Combining ADE technology with Insyte expertise in systems integration will provide the capability to deliver innovative and intelligent solutions for complex mission enabled systems. The defence community, now more than ever, need reliable and experienced Systems Integrators who understand the real issues in terms of security, data integration and real-time data dissemination, Insyte are an excellent partner who bring extensive domain experience and systems integration capabilities to its defence and government customers and are proactive in adopting the best available technology to address their customer needs.
