UTC Aerospace Systems to provide India's largest airline with A320neo nacelle maintenance
UTC Aerospace Systems' Aerostructures unit has been selected by IndiGo to provide nacelle asset support and maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services for the airline's fleet of new Airbus A320neo (new engine option) aircraft. The services will be provided under UTC Aerospace Systems' Prime Solutions®, a flexible maintenance program that offers customized nacelle support designed to lengthen lifecycles at the lowest cost of ownership. UTC Aerospace Systems is a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).
The agreement extends the existing support program for IndiGo's present fleet of A320ceo (current engine option) airplanes. The extended agreement will cover A320neo nacelle system components including thrust reversers, fan cowls and inlet cowls. The MRO support for IndiGo will be provided at Goodrich Aerostructures Service Center-Asia Pte Ltd. in Singapore.
"For nearly a decade, UTC Aerospace Systems has provided IndiGo with excellent nacelle support for our A320ceo fleet," said Mr. S.C. Gupta, Vice President - Engineering, IndiGo. "As the first airline in the region to operate the A320neo, we look forward to receiving the same level of exemplary nacelle service and support from them for our new aircraft fleet."
Launched in 2006, IndiGo has grown to become the largest airline in India by passengers carried, and currently operates a fleet of more than a hundred A320ceo aircraft from its primary hub in Delhi.
"We have supported IndiGo through our Prime Solutions suite of services since 2007 and congratulate IndiGo as it grows and adds the innovative A320neo aircraft to its fleet," said Marc Duvall, President of UTC Aerospace System - Aerostructures. "We are the original equipment manufacturer for the nacelle systems on the A320neo powered by Pratt & Whitney PW1100G-JM engines, as well as for both engines used to power the A320ceo. Our OEM knowledge, coupled with our fully customizable suite of nacelle services for both A320ceo and A320neo aircraft, means customers around the world such as IndiGo can count on us to ensure a seamless transition while operating both aircraft types."
Aerostructures, headquartered in Chula Vista, California, began offering its Prime Solutions program in 2007. Since then, airlines around the world have entered into long-term agreements with Aerostructures for their nacelle system maintenance solutions.
