GKN Aerospace promotes airframe support, transparency and fan blade repair at MRO Americas, 2016
GKN Aerospace will exhibit Fokker Services' airframe support programmes, alongside the company's established transparencies aftermarket and fan blade repair businesses, on stand 1839 at MRO Americas in Dallas TX, from 5 - 7 April, 2016.
Fokker Services
The Fokker Technologies (a division of GKN Aerospace) services operation, Fokker Services, provides aftermarket support for Airbus, ATR, Boeing, Bombardier and Fokker aircraft, offering logistic solutions, component repair, engineering and modifications and spares support.
Transparency repair and replacement
A feature of the display will be GKN Aerospace's recently qualified, 10% lighter, higher performance main pilot (No 1) windshield for the Airbus single aisle aircraft family (A318/A319/A320/A321). This new windshield is fully interchangeable with the existing windshield and combines with the company's established No 2 and No 3 cockpit windows to form the lightest complete cockpit window set on the market for single aisle aircraft.
GKN Aerospace will also be promoting its recently launched Transparencies Aftermarket Service (TAS) which offers a comprehensive window repair, framing and exchange service to airlines and freight carriers and can achieve up to 20% savings on the operator's annual ATA 56* spend. Today this service operates from the company's transparencies manufacturing facility in Garden Grove, CA, although GKN Aerospace expects to open TAS facilities in Europe and Asia during this year.
Fan blade repair
GKN Aerospace holds a wide range of approvals for repair of engine low pressure compressor (LPC) components in support of 180 airlines and jet engine overhaul shops internationally.
In a recent business expansion, the company has established a centre of excellence for fan blade repairs for the GE CF6 high-bypass turbofan engine - cornerstone of the wide-body engine aircraft business. The aftermarket and licensing agreements between GE Aviation and GKN Aerospace cover all fan blade repairs for the entire suite of CF6 engines, which equip thirteen aircraft types including the DC10, the MD11, Boeing 747 and 767 and Airbus A300, A310 and A330 aircraft.
