Rockwell Collins' HGSâ„¢ to be offered on new Embraer E-Jet E2 aircraft

The HGS displays critical flight information in the pilot's forward field of view, which keeps their attention focused on the outside world, enhancing overall situational awareness and safety. Having HGS for both the pilot and co-pilot adds another layer of crew awareness, and accelerates pilot proficiency.

"Embraer's selection of Rockwell Collins to provide dual HGS on the E2 is a testament to the operational and safety benefits that HGS brings to the industry," said Gregg Walt, senior director, Head-up Guidance Systems for Rockwell Collins. "We are confident that aircraft manufacturers and operators alike will continue to embrace dual HGS benefits as time progresses."

With this selection, Rockwell Collins remains the supplier of choice for Embraer's commercial HGS, building upon past offerings for the Legacy 450, Legacy 500, Lineage 1000, ERJ-145 and others in the E-Jet line.

Operators equipped with Rockwell Collins' HGS are able to fly Special Authorization (SA) Category I approaches at airports around the world, which allows for further descent before making a final decision to land. Having HGS also reduces minimum takeoff visibilities by as much as 300 feet at some airports.
