Boeing Performance on KC-10 Support Positions Company for Additional Work
The Boeing Company [NYSE: BA] recently completed its 700th consecutive on-time depot-level servicing of U.S. Air Force KC-10 aircraft, successfully capping a Contractor Logistics Support (CLS) agreement signed in 1998.
Boeing will submit a proposal to the Air Force for follow-on KC-10 CLS work later this month. The Air Force is expected to select a winner in summer 2008. Boeing will continue to provide interim KC-10 CLS services until the contract is awarded.
"This is a significant milestone for the KC-10 CLS team," said Mike Wright, Boeing KC-10 program manager. "The team's performance exemplifies the incredible dedication Boeing has to providing continuous support to our Air Force customer and the warfighters who fly this great tanker."
Under the KC-10 CLS program, Boeing and its industry teammates provide maintenance, repair, modification and depot-level management services for all KC-10 parts at Boeing Support Systems' San Antonio, Texas, facility. Boeing also manages the Air Force's KC-10 supply chain and provides 24-hour supply, logistics and aircraft maintenance support at locations around the globe.
The Air Force operates nearly 60 KC-10 aircraft. Due to their high operational tempo, the aircraft must be serviced regularly to help satisfy mission requirements at home and abroad.
