M-Systems Enhances Data Security Within Its Fast Flash Disk (FFDTM) Product Line
Incorporates Data Sanitize Procedures of the United States DoD, NSA, Army, Air Force and Navy; Includes a Selective And Auto-Resume Quick Security Erase
M-Systems (Nasdaq: FLSH), a leader in flash-based data storage products, today announced the availability of enhanced security features within its Fast Flash Disk (FFDTM) ATA, IDE and SCSI product lines.
The new features allow M-Systems' FFD products to be sanitized (purged) of confidential data within rigid standards set down by the government of the United States. FFD products now comply with security guidance from the Department of Defense (DoD 5220.22-M National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual), National Security Agency (NSA 130-2), Air Force (AFSSI 5020), Army (380-19) and the Navy (Navso 5239).
The security erase feature, which enables all data to be erased from the flash disk in seconds, can also be used selectively, erasing only part of the disk. This partial security erase feature found within M-Systems' FFD products enables customers to delete only the confidential data, making the disk immediately ready for the next mission.
Another feature now available within FFD products is auto-resume security erase. This feature enables customers to confidentially guarantee that sensitive data will be automatically erased, even if power is unstable or completely lost, once power is resumed.
"Our FFD flash disk products provide the highest level of security in the industry," said Ofer Tsur, M-Systems' marketing manager for FFD products. "Complying to the sanitize requirements of DoD, NSA and the US forces will enable customers to incorporate our flash disks within data recorders, reconnaissance systems and other mission critical applications. FFD's auto-resume security erase and partial security erase features will provide military and aerospace customers with flexibility and the best data security available."
M-Systems' Ultra Wide SCSI, IDE Plus and ATA products are state-of-the-art solid-state flash disks that are designed as drop-in replacements for 3.5" and 2.5" SCSI, IDE and ATA mechanical hard disks. The FFD line is designed to operate at high altitudes and within harsh environmental conditions where shocks, vibrations and extreme temperature ranges may occur.
