RESON to exhibit military and security applications for commercial-off-shelf sonars at DSEi 09
RESON, a world-leading manufacturer of high resolution multi-beam sonars will be exhibiting the military applications of their commercial-off-the shelf products at Defence Services and Equipment International, (DSEi 09) at Excel, in London from the 8th to the 11th September 2009, showing the cost effectiveness and versatility of their dual technology capability.
Through years of design and development, RESONS sonars have evolved from their original civil applications to detecting mines at the same ranges as a modern mine hunter - but at a fraction of the cost. This same technology in now being applied to the homeland security role and they are even capable of detecting contraband, the size of a household brick on the sea floor.
RESON will be exhibiting the SeaBat 7128, Forward Looking Imaging Sonar with a dual capability in both mine and Contraband Detection and the SeaBat 7112 surveillance sonar which has been optimised for Diver Detection.
The SeaBat 7128 forward looking sonar system provides detection and high resolution images, allowing rapid and accurate classification. It operates at 200 or 400 Hz and illuminates a 128-degree horizontal sector, whilst the SeaBat 7112 can detect underwater intruders at ranges up to 700 meters and can be used either in the vicinity of a high value asset or up threat or as a portable force protection sonar. It operates at 100 kHz and has 360-degree continuous coverage and automatic diver detection alert.
Richard Bell-Davies, a former Mine hunter Commanding Officer and MCM Squadron Commander, and now the Business Development Director, Defence and Security at RESON, said, "I am looking forward to demonstrating how modern high resolution industrial sonars can be used by both littoral and blue water navies for mine and contraband detection and underwater force protection"
To organize a demonstration or an appointment during DSEi09, please contact: Richard.Bell-Davies@reson.com
You will find RESON on Stand Number: 1299 at DSEi09 (This is in the South hall halfway along the wall leading adjacent to the pier)
