Boeing to Provide Performance-Based Logistics for US Air Force F-15 Radars

PBL contracts ensure accountability, best value

Boeing has received an $85 million Performance-Based Logistics (PBL) contract for continued support of U.S. Air Force F-15 mechanically scanned and Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radars. The new PBL contract replaces three previous support contracts with one overarching agreement.

"The Boeing Global Services & Support team has years of experience in partnering with the U.S. Air Force to support the F-15 fleet," said Julie Praiss, Boeing vice president, Tactical Aircraft & Weapons Support. "Now, with this PBL agreement, government and industry are working together to provide the best-value sustainment solution for the warfighter and the taxpayer."

PBL contracts require contractors to meet a set level of readiness, ensuring that the customer's required level of support is met and that the aircraft, system or components are available when needed. This lowers life-cycle costs while increasing mission capability rates.

"The Boeing team provides over-and-above support to ensure mission success, combat-ready aircraft and combat-ready airmen," said U.S. Air Force Col. Brian Beers, commander, 18th Maintenance Group.

The new F-15 PBL contract integrates a Boeing Contractor Logistics Support team into the assigned Air Force wing. These logistics experts are considered active-duty civilians, deployable worldwide.

The AESA radar system gives warfighters the ability to detect and track multiple targets in multiple directions while providing jamming functions. The pilot gains greater situational awareness and decreased workload with increased survivability.
