FEC Heliports will be demonstrating their range of Portable Heliport Lighting systems, at 2017 HAI HELI EXPO in Dallas, USA from March 6th to 9th

Both MIL-Star® and HEMS-Star® portable rechargeable LED lighting systems are designed for fast deployment in emergency and temporary situations to facilitate safe and effective marking of helicopter landing areas.  HEMS-Star® is for civilian emergency situations whilst MIL-Star® is for military, overt and covert missions.

Both systems enable helicopter landing areas to be identified at night from distances of up to 10 miles (16Km).  Offering air to ground control, the lights are pilot activated using VHF, operational at line of sight ranges up to 6 miles (10Km). A full case of lights is easily portable and weighs only 24lbs (10.6Kg).  Each light has NVG compatible red, blue, green, white visible LEDs and infra-red and is programmable to show steady-on, flash warning, location beacon or Morse Code with the option of automatic sunset switching.  Rechargeable in their case via mains 100-240V AC, vehicles 13.5-28VDC, solar or wind power, from fully exhausted to fully charged in 3.5 hours.  Each light or set of lights can be programmed, interrogated and controlled by wireless commands via a PC/Tablet with the USB-UHF transceiver.

MIL-Star® and HEMS-Star® have achieved FCC certification for operation in the US, and CE certification for the European Union.  Both systems are IP65 rated, fitted with rubber soled stainless steel bases and have been successfully tested for stability at the Sikorsky Development Flight Centre under the full rotor wash of a Chinook.
