Boeing and Royal Air Maroc Complete 787 Dreamliner Order

The Boeing Company [NYSE: BA] and Royal Air Maroc today announced the firm-order agreement for four 787 Dreamliners with an option for the purchase of one additional airplane. The first 787 is scheduled for delivery in late 2008.

The Memorandum of Understanding for the 787s was originally signed in July, 2005, by Boeing Commercial Airplanes President and CEO Alan Mulally.

"We applaud Royal Air Maroc's leadership and vision in ordering the 787 and bringing the world's most technologically advanced and efficient airplane into its fleet," Mulally said. "Chairman Berrada heads up a world-class team and we're proud to build upon our strong relationship with RAM and know that the Dreamliner will further enhance RAM's reputation for overall excellence."

Royal Air Maroc plans to use its 787s on service to North America and to open new Middle East and Africa routes.

Mohamed Berrada, Royal Air Maroc's chairman and CEO, explained: "The advantages the Boeing 787 brings to our long-haul fleet operations will allow RAM to expand profitably, while bringing the utmost in comfort to our passengers traveling from here and abroad."

Morocco is a popular tourist destination for travelers across the globe. Royal Air Maroc, as the national carrier, is a key player in government-sponsored programs aimed at increasing both foreign investment and tourism in the kingdom.

Boeing has been working closely with Royal Air Maroc to explore ways to enhance its working relationship through joint ventures, industrial participation and airline training and maintenance activities. Boeing was a strong supporter of the Free Trade Agreement signed by the Moroccan and U.S. governments in June, 2004.

Royal Air Maroc's order for the 787 Dreamliner brings the total number of announced commitments for the airplane to 309 from 25 airlines worldwide, with 241 firm orders.

RAM serves more than 60 destinations in 30 countries in Europe, Africa, North America and the Middle East, operating more than 44,000 flights per year.
